Cocoa Drop Cookies

        1/2   cup shortening
          1   cup sugar
          1   each egg, 1 egg = 1 batch
        3/4   cup buttermilk
          1   teaspoon vanilla
      1 3/4   cups flour, or 2
        1/2   teaspoon baking soda
        1/2   teaspoon salt
        1/2   cup cocoa
           
              For Frosting
      1 1/3   pints powdered sugar
        1/3   cup cocoa
        1/3   cup butter, softened
          3   tablespoons milk, 3 - 4 tablespoons

  Mix shortening, sugar, and egg.

  Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.

  Stir in flour, soda, salt, cocoa

  Chill at least 1 hour.  

  Drop rounded tablespoons (or pat into a cookie shape), about 2" apart on a
  parchment lined cookie sheet.

  Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes (Do a test pan to check cookie consistency).

  The cookies have the right consistency when almost no imprint remains after
  touching.

  Frosting:
  Combine ingredients.  Stir until blended.
